This week, I conducted an interview with Arik Chan, a photographer. He gave me a list of his favourite places in Singapore to take fantastic pictures. If you have a knack for taking photos, this post will certainly come in handy for your next visit to Singapore!
- Sunset/Sunrise: Changi Beach
The beach in Changi remains one of the most secluded beaches in Singapore, partly attributable to its location. It’s situated in the east of the island and slightly inaccessible by public transport, but very much worth the hassle. Arik likes taking pictures of the horizon in Changi because of its serenity which helps him compose his pictures to capture moments perfectly. He also doesn’t have to worry about photo-crashers as there aren’t that many people there. A bonus of this location is the hawker centre situated nearby – perfect for a break after a long session of shooting.
- Nature: Pasir Ris Park
Pasir Ris Park hosts a plethora of wildlife – from monkeys to various species of birds and butterflies. Arik highly recommends visiting the Herb Garden where you’ll be able to capture moments of butterflies resting on vibrant flowers, and even adorable teeny ladybugs! The Mangrove Swamp is also a must-visit in the park. Stop by the Bird Watching Tower and test how keen your eyesight is – try to spot the winged creatures! Remember to bring your lenses and tripod for taking precise snapshots.
